LOWER SOUTH PLATTE WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT
WELL AUGMENTATION PROJECT

Contractor Drilling Well

Proiect Description

The Lower South Platte Water Conservancy District (LSPWCD) service area encompasses
approximately 375,000 acres, and is located in the four counties of Logan, Morgan, Washington,
and Sedgwick. The LSPWCD also operates the Lower South Platte Recharge Water Activity
Enterprise, which currently serves 42 customers with 62 wells. During the winter and spring of
2001, new recharge ponds have been developed in the Lower South Platte River under the canals of
the Julesburg Irrigation District. In. addition to these new recharge facilities, the LSPWCD is
working to develop existing and new wells as augmentation replacement sources. The well
illustrated above, is located a number of miles from the South Platte River and will be pumped into
the Julesburg Irrigation District's State Line Ditch, to flow back to the river for immediate
replacement for out-of-priority irrigation well depletions.

Proiect Data

Sponsor: LSPWCD

County: Sedgwick Water Source: South Platte River Alluvium

Terms of Loan: $56,787.30 @ 3.0% for lO-years Substantial Completion Date: Feb. 1,2004

Design Engineer: John Altenhofen, NCWCD - Fort Collins, CO.

Construction Contractor: Canfield Drilling, Inc. - Fort Morgan, CO.

Design Criteria: 210-ft.
