The existing structure suffered severe
damage in 1998 and again in 1999, when the river cut around the south abutment, nearly
establishing a new river channel that bypassed the existing diversion structure entirely.
Groundwater Appropriators of the South Platte River Basin (G.A.S.P) of Fort Morgan, prepared
the final design plans and specifications to construct a new concrete diversion structure, utilizing
Obermeyer pneumatic gates and a radial flush gate. Boone Excavating, the General Contractor,
commenced construction in November of 2000 and completed the project in February of 2001.
Final project administration and accounting was completed in April of 200 I.

Project Data

Sponsor: Riverside Res. and Land Co.
