WELD COUNTY TRI-AREA SANITATION DISTRICT
REGIONAL STORMW ATER DETENTION FACILITY

From Left to Right - Richard Botteieher (Eng), Larry Lang (eweb), Joe Busto (eweb), Tim Feehan (cweb)

Project Description

The communities of Dacono, Frederick, Evanston, and Firestone have consistently
experienced flooding problems due to storm runoff from irrigated farmlands and adjacent
developments. These communities have suffered many recorded flooding events, dating back to
1957, which caused in excess of $300,000 in flood related damages. With significant population
growth occurring within the District, the District cooperated in the development of the 1-25
Corridor Master Drainage Plan. The master drainage plan recommended that the existing
detention pond located on the south side of Frederick be enlarged to a regional detention pond, to
mitigate future flood damage to the surrounding communities. The constructed regional
detention pond encompasses over 60 acres of land and stores approximately 146 acre-feet of
stormwater during a 100-year event. Additionally, the inlet and outlet channels to the detention
facility where reconstructed. The Letter of Map Revision from the Federal Emergency Agency
for the project has been approved and will be effective on January 15, 2005.

Proiect Data

Sponsor: Tri-Area Sanitation District

County: Weld

Water Source: Upper Basin Area

Terms of Loan: $2,002,400@5.00% for 30-yrs.
