<br />Interested parties are hereby notified that the District Engineer has received
<br />an after-tbe fact (AIF) permit application under Section 404 of the Clean Water
<br />Act (33 ose 1344). The application is for a pertllit to place dredged material
<br />into wetlands located south of Island Lake in the Russell Lakes area near
<br />Saguache, Saguache County, Colorado, ATF Application No. Co-OYT-0531.

<br />Township 43 North. Range 8 Bast (37- 56.5-R latitude. 106- 6.7-W longitude).

<br />DfI!R("ri9tion of Vork: The coapleted work consists of the escavation of an open
<br />vater area at tbe soutbern end of Island Lake. The excavated lIIaterial,
<br />approxi.ately 2000 cubic yards. vas used to create dilles adjacent to tbe open
<br />water area and to create islands witbin the open water. The open water area is
<br />appro:dmately 700 feet long and (.inilllUm) 60 feet to (....xi1llU.m) 100 feet vide.
<br />The work was done during Septelllber. 1987, with a dragline. Tbe purpose of tbe
<br />project is to create open .ater areas suitable for use by .aterfowl.

<br />located approxilllately 1/4 .ile to the ea8t of the described project in 1981.
<br />This work was authorized by the (old) nationwide permit for work in closed
<br />baains.
