This is a resource functional use of the area.
As an illustration - although recreation is the primary user of only
2,802,000 acres of land, 8,935,000 acres of cropland are also useful to
recreation. Similarly, of the 1,284,000 acres of fish and wildlife area,
all are useful to recreation. This is merely illustrative. It is from the result of analyses of the framework plan that
most of the projected figures with respect to land use will be ob~ained;
however, in connection with the lands study to date, projections in four
of the resource functional fields have been made;. that of transportation,
urban and built-up areas which relate to the people living in the towns;
and in mineral industry lands. Transportation, urban and built-up lands,
currently utilize 6,847,000 acres. It is projected that 7,659,000 acres

10
