The area drains mainly into ~lorrison <br />r.reek. ElevaLions range fron 9,000 feet to 9,600 feet. T'1is Roadless <br />Area is contiguous to DO - Green Ridge to the north. <br /> <br />The soils on this unit are composec1. of gravelly textured decomposed <br />granite in the south to clay loam and sane sr,ndy clay loams in the <br />north. <br /> <br />Vegetation consists primarily of lodgepole pine and aspen. S",~ll parks <br />are scattered throughout the IJni t. Timber is 10catec1 mainly on tr.e <br />nort.heast facing slope and aspen stands are characteristic of the sOllth <br />and southeast slopes. <br /> <br />The area has no unique scenery, a good view of the Flat Tops and Eagles <br />Nest range is possible from higher elevations. <br /> <br />The RARE Quality Index (QI-?) is 66, however, a 1977 Forest review <br />indicates the index should be 60. A newer Wilderness Quality Deter- <br />mination rating shows the area to have a rating of 27 on a scale of 0- <br />lOf). <br /> <br />Present major uses of the area consist of livestock grazing, (cattle) <br />bi~ g.:~t1e sumMer range, ann limited. recreation use, mainly big Hdj~C <br />hu)~.
