Brown Jr.
Governor of California
State G:apitol
Sacramento, California 95814

Dear Governor Brown:

We are pleased to present to you and the Legislature the
Annual Report of the Colorado River Board for the Calendar Year
1975 .

During 1975, the seven-state Colorado River Basin Salinity
Control Forum developed uniform salinity standards for the river,
consisting of numeric criteria and a plan of implementation. By
the close of the year, six of the seven states had formally adopted
the standards.

The Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Act of 1974 autho-
rized the construction of four salinity control projects. The U.S.
Bureau of Reclamation has stated that it will complete necessary
reports on the four projects in 1976, and that construction could
then commence if appropriations are made available. The Colorado
River Board has and will continue to work together with the other
Basin states to achieve this objective.

The Colorado River experienced a good water year in 1975 which
increased the storage in the basin reservoirs. As of the end of
1975, the total usable basinwide storage was 48.5 million acre-feet
or about 8010 of the total usable storage capacity.

These and other activities in the Colorado River Basin are
described in the report which follows and a supplemental detailed
appendix to the report.
