The storage in Lake Powell allows the
four Upper Colorado Basin States to develop their compact apportionment as needed, and
provides significant recreational value for boating and fishing. Without the storage benefits of
Lake Powell, the Upper Basin would need to collectively ensure that 7.5 MAF arrives annually at
Lee Ferry and also find other ways to pay for water projects developed under CRSP.

lbis has recently been a popular topic for the media. At some point, we likely need to take a
position to protect the benefits of Lake Powell and publicly recognize the consequences to the
Upper Basin States without its storage benefits.

:.I",;

.~:<;'

1
