A map 1 is herewith showinl! <br />the entil'e length of the Missouri Rinr from which may be seen <br />the relation of the stretch under consideration to the remaindel' of the <br />valley of the Missouri, Kansas City, I{ans., fronts on the Missouri <br />Ri\'el' at the month of Kansas River', and also at the Qlliu,laro <br />pumping station, (j miles farther upstream, The northern limits of <br />F]ol'ence Ill'e at 1I point about one-half mile above th(! Omaha \\'atl'r' <br />works. The length of the portion of the stream undel' considel'ation, <br />measuring from the mouth of KaminS HiveI', is about 280 miles. <br />}. The most important places on this part ,of the. rin,r are Kan,as <br />CIty, Leavenworth. .\tctiIson, and 'VllIte Cloud In Kansas, Park- <br />ville and St. .Joseph in Missouri, Hu]o, Neurnska City, Plattsmollth, <br />Omahn, and Florence in Nebras]m, and Council B]uffs in Iowa. <br />4. The genera] chal'llcteristics of the Missouri Ri,'et. anll its water- <br />shed have been described in many pt'evious reports.
