Helton <br /> <br />May 4, 1973 <br /> <br />PURPOSE <br /> <br />The purpose of thls report is to submit a plan that will <br /> <br />assist the Colorado Division of Wildlife in transferring water <br /> <br />obtained through state-owned shares in the Catlin Canal Company <br /> <br />into John Martin reservoir for use in evaporation replacement in <br /> <br />a permanent recreation pool. <br /> <br />_ t <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Catlin Canal Company owns two decreed water rights that <br /> <br />allow diversions from the Arkansas river in amounts up to 345 cfs. <br /> <br />The first decree is for 248 cfs and has an administrative priority <br /> <br />date of December 3, 1884; the second decree is for 97 cfs and has <br /> <br />a priority date of November 14, 1887.
