Does not include amount spent on inspection
of public water supplies and advisory program relating to sanitation aspects
of water supply developments.
(d) The Water Resources Board was created in 1955.
(e) Of this amount $1,311,946 was spent on capital improvements for creating water
areas and $150,000 for the maintenance of water areas. For fiscal 1956
expenditures for creating water areas were $521,326 and for maintenance,
$170,000.
(f) The larger amount spent in fiscal 1956-57 was due to a special appropriation
for ground water work.
(g) This figure was taken from budgets submitted by the states to the Public ~alth
service when fublic Law 660 Program Grant Funds were requested earlier this
fiscal year. This appropriation is for water pollution control only.
(h) Figure shown is for the former Bureau <?f1 Irrigation whose functions were taken
over by the Department of Water Resources.
(i) Agency estimates that it uses approx. 50% of the biennial appropriation to the
Board for water resource activitIes. This calculation has been made to give a
comparable figure.
(j) This figure includes the State Board of Control.
