<br />002292 <br /> <br />- 19 - <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />justify and make necessary, in the utilization of limited water resources, <br />the storage of water in the Upper Gunnison basin under, and to the <br />extent proposed in Plan E. <br /> <br />The conditions set forth in "Appendix M should be accepted. They <br />assure that the lands and waters included in the project, consistent <br />with its primary purpose, shall be open to public hunting and fishing <br />in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado under the supervi- <br />sion of the Colorado Game and Fish Department; that access to facilities <br />for game and fishin the affected area shall be maintained; and that the <br />provisions of Public Law 732 shall be observed in the planning, construc- <br />tion and operation of the project. . <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />13. That the storage of water in the Gunnison River Basin, as a <br />part of the Colorado River Storage Project, should be approved, subject <br />to three conditions, namely: <br /> <br />(a) U. S. Highway 50, because of reservoir inundation of its <br />present right-of-w~, vathout expense to either the State or counties, <br />be relocated in such a manner that it will pass through and directly <br />serve the cities of Gunnison and Montrose in accordance with plans <br />approved by the Department of Highways, State of Colorado; and the <br />necessary access and approach roads, which now connect lvith U. S. <br />Highway 50 to serve communities and activities in the area, and <br />which ~~ll be destroyed by reservoir inundation, be replaced and <br />relocated without expense to the State or counties, so as to pre- <br />serve such transportation facilities. <br /> <br />"' <br /> <br />(b) The provisions of federal law (64 Stat,IIOO, approved <br />September 30, 195D), respecting the impact on local school districts <br />during the period of construction by the Bureau 01 ReClamation, be <br />strictly observed. This is for the purpose of providing necessary <br />funds for additional school facilities, as well as maintenance and <br />operation thereof, occasioned by construction activities of the <br />Federal Government. <br /> <br />\I <br /> <br />(c) The utilization of project facilities for recreational, <br />fish and wildlife purposes shall be in accordance with the follow- <br />ing: <br /> <br />(1) That all lands and waters contained within the <br />project shall be open to public hunting and fishing, consistent <br />with the primary purposes of the project. <br /> <br />(2) That the public access to these lands and waters be <br />maintained at all times. <br /> <br />(3) That the project be constructed and operated in <br />accordance ,,-ith Public Law" 732, 79th Congress, 2nd Session <br />(60 Stat. 1080). <br />
