changes will depend strongly on temperature patterns for the next
couple weeks, but we believe that releases will remain at 24,000
cfs or above through July and above 20,000 cfs throughout the
summer. Lake Powell inflows are currently at about 80,000 cfs
and we expect the lake to be nearly full by mid-July. Updates to
this writeup will be made frequently to provide the most accurate
information to interested parties.

For the next year or two, releases to safely control the spring
runoff are expected to control the annual release volume from
Lake Powell. Further information on Glen Canyon and other
mainstem Colorado River dams can be obtained from our website at
www.uc.usbr.gov.

The Colorado River Management Work Group meetings to discuss the
1998 Annual Operating Plan for the entire Colorado River are
continuing--our next meeting is scheduled for 9:30 am, June 20,
1997, at McCarren Airport in Las Vegas, NV. Final language for
the 1998 AOP will be discussed and a technical work committee
will be reinstated to continue the modeling of surplus and
shortage options for future reservoir operations. For further
information contact Randall Peterson at (801)524-3715 or Jayne
Harkins at (702)293-8190.
