<br />OIl(}2i5 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Executive Summary <br /> <br />This report summarizes the results of the LivingWisen. and Learning to be WaterWiser~ Resource <br />Action Programs implemented during 1999 throughout the state of Colorado, The Program has been sponsored <br />by a variety of federal, private, and local government sponsors, Six thousand one hundred seventy two (6172) <br />students and households are participating in the Programs, <br /> <br />The LivingWisen, and learning to be WaterWiser~ Resource Action Programs combine a turn- <br />key set of classroom activities with hands-on home projects to introduce resource conscious behavior, The <br />Programs facilitate installation of resource efficient technologies in homes, build knowledge of environmental <br />issues and provide an effective community program for sponsors, <br /> <br />The LivingWisen. and learning to be WaterWiser~ Resource Action Programs yield a variety of <br />measurable results. An overview of the results from the Colorado Programs appear below, with greater detail <br />in the attached report, <br /> <br />Program Results Highlights <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Pre and Post Survey: Identical surveys were given to students prior to the program. and again <br />upon its completion. Scores and subject knowledge improved from 29% to 86%. <br /> <br />Household Report Cards: were completed by students to summarize the measures they took in their <br />own homes, Some highlights include: 70% installed resource efficient showerheads; 98% installed <br />LimeLite Night Lites; 92% involved their families; and 80% completed tbe Program. <br /> <br />Home Checkups (customer surveys): were perfonned by students as part of the program activities, <br />Important customer infonnation was collected to better understand trends and usage. Some highlights <br />include: 80% own their homes and have 4 - 5 people in the home; 80% stated that they do not bave <br />compact fluorescent ligbts in tbeir home. <br /> <br />Resource Savings Results: As part of the program and working with parents or guardians, students <br />installed resource efficiency technologies in their homes while gathering infonnation as provided <br />above. They also measured the pre-existing equipment to calculate savings that they generated. <br />Savings from these activities will continue for many years to come.
