June 2, 1998 <br /> <br />page 7 <br /> <br />Burnt Mountain pact signees give <br />$6,000 to water education program <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />SnO\\mass Village signecs of the Brunt Mountain <br />Water and development agreement have chipped in <br />$1.500 a piece to help fund dliciency education in <br />the tilth grade through the Wa'cr Wise Program. <br />The $6.000 kill)' will provide education and <br />water-saving devices to liS children in the Aspen <br />school system. <br />Along with inslruction in the importance of water <br />conservation and energy dlicicncy. the students <br />received a kit \....ith devices worth about $50 to take <br />home. <br />In the kit arc a bathroom sink aerator. an etlicient <br />shower head used in resort hotels and a kitchen sink <br />aerator. There's also a bag to measure water llows <br />before and after. to tack savings; a compact <br />l10rescent light bulb and a air conditioning or furnace <br />din alann. <br />"A strength of the program is that it reaches two <br />generations at one time. adults who may not have <br />the time to learn about this and the children. It has <br />an impact when it comes home with the kids." said <br />Richard Wall.managcrofthe Snowmass Water and <br />Sanitation District. <br />Last week. Wall turned over to Water Wise <br />director Dave Munk checks from this district. the <br />Snowmass Village and the Aspen Skiing Co. <br />According to Wall. "there was a feeling among <br />Burnt Mountain signers to get the community <br />involved in water conservation.
