The <br />reservoir will be about 8 ..1iles long and .25 miles wide at normal <br />water level, elevation 5,140 feet, and will be confined for its entire <br />length in the canyon 1iIhich has ['!en cut by the Huerfam River througll <br />the prairies of southeastern Colorado. <br />storage, distribution and power are the purposes for <br />which the reservoir 'is intended. The water surface elevation of the <br />various pools as planned for tl~ operation of the reservoir are shown <br />with the corresponding capacities in acre feet and the areas in acres, <br />on the aocompanying operations ohart. <br />During the period 1930-1941, had the reservoir been in <br />operation, the water surface would have remained very nearly constant <br />during the recreation seasons. <br />Graneros ;leservoir site lies approximately 28 miles <br />southwest of rueblo in ; ueblo Count;\'. The site is reached by U. S. <br />highways 85 and 87 which at the present time crosses Graneros Creek <br />just above the upper end of the reservoir. A portion of this high- <br />way is now being relocated east of its present location. In this new <br />location, about one mile of the .lighway will be inundated by the <br />reservoir. The village of Greenhorn is located on the existing high- <br />way above the upper end of the site. <br />The proposed dam will be an earth fill structure <br />approximately 280 feet high with an Dverall crest length of about <br />2,500 feet.
