<br />218J <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Section Four of this report, Appraisal of Archeological ~esources, <br /> <br /> <br />was taken from preliminary archeological reports prepared by the Uni- <br /> <br /> <br />versity of Denver for the Eastern slope sectiDn and the Western State <br /> <br /> <br />College of Colorado for the i~stern slope section of the Gunnison-Ark- <br /> <br /> <br />ansas Project. The studies were conducted at the request of the Smith- <br /> <br /> <br />sonian Institution in accordance with the existing agreement between <br /> <br /> <br />the National Park Service and the Smithsonian Institution. <br /> <br /> <br />This Reconnaissance Report is based upon what is known as the <br /> <br /> <br />Bureau's "Maximum Physical Development" plan, as described under the <br /> <br /> <br />heading, Description of Project. It is further based upon preliminary <br /> <br /> <br />plans, sketches, drawings and project Dperation information as supplied <br /> <br /> <br />by the Region 7 office of the Bureau of Reclamation, Denver. It is not <br /> <br /> <br />to be reproduced in whole or in part, .or quoted for public information <br /> <br /> <br />without the consent of the Bureau. <br /> <br /> <br />!t is understood that the proposed plans of operation of the <br /> <br /> <br />reservoirs, their locations, use and other data furnished and used in <br /> <br /> <br />the preparation of this report are not final. Any modification of the <br /> <br /> <br />Bureau's present plans are likely to affect the ,recreational planning <br /> <br /> <br />and will be taken into consideration if and when unit reports are <br /> <br /> <br />required. <br /> <br /> <br />The Region Two office of the Fish and Wildlife Service, Albuquerque, <br /> <br /> <br />New Mexico, has cooperated by providing advance and preliminary in- <br /> <br /> <br />formation on the fish and wildlife values in connection with the <br /> <br /> <br />reservoir sites covered in this report.
