The area to be covered is large and work is impossible <br /> <br />during a greater part of the year becallse of the high altitude and <br /> <br />the fact that snON lies longer there. <br /> <br />The seven j)roposed reservoirs involved in the ~resent study <br /> <br />are: Sugarloaf and rain Lakes on the uwer hrkansas ttiver east of the <br /> <br />Continental Divide; Cottonwood (now called lJlue Hesa), on the Gunnison <br />River; Cimarron (now called Cllrecanti), on the Gunnison and Cimarron <br /> <br />Rivers; Gateview on the Lake Fork of the Gwnnison; Cebolla, on <br /> <br />Cebolla Creek, a tributary of the Gunnison; Almont on Taylor River, a <br /> <br />stream which joins the Bast River and below their confluence becomes <br /> <br />the Gunnison; Taylor on Taylor iUver, upstream from Almont. <br /> <br />Nothing is known abollt the area involved in the Sllgarloaf <br /> <br />and Twin Lakes basins. No stlldies have been made there by any of the <br /> <br />:iestern State College staff, and until there has been opportunity for <br /> <br />a reconnaissance no statements can be made as to the presence or <br /> <br />absence of archeological manifestations. <br /> <br />47 <br />
