;.1',

-66-

.

As a result, the owner of a "district acre" in the Iliff
Irrigation District is entitled to 1/10,874.3 of all of its water,
or 1/10,874.3 x 8/31 of all water stored in Prewitt Reservoir.
The shrink between the outlet of Prewitt Reservoir to each
of these ditches is. calculated separately on each separate run
of water, depending on the current circumstances, such as river
flow, etc. This is done by the Water Commissioner, who lets the
Prewitt Operating Committee know for its records. The records
of the Prewitt Operating Committee indicate the acre-feet to be
released from Prewitt Reservoir for each of the aforementioned
ditches, rather than the acre-feet which each ditch can pick up
from the river after deduction of shrinkage.
The records of the Prewitt Operating Committee show an item
headed "river exchange" for the Logan Irrigation District rights.
Under this heading is entered the shrinkage charged to each ditch
on its deliveries of Prewitt Reservoir water during the season.
(For the Iliff this shrink is taken into account automatically).
Alex Michel agreed with us that this was poor terminology.

5. The Morgan-Prewitt Reservoir Company

The Morgan-Prewitt Reservoir Company is a mutual non-profit

irrigation company which owns a 6/31 interest in the Prewitt

Reservoir as a tenant in common with the Iliff Irrigation District

and the Logan Irrigation District. Although Alex Michel manages

its water, insofar as releases from Prewitt Reservoir are con-

cerned, most of its water is delivered by exchange and is used in

Water District No.1 above the Prewitt Reservoir. John W. "Bill"

Samples of Fort Morgan is the Secretary of the Morgan-Prewitt
Reservoir Company and its office is in Fort Morgan.

~

. .

.

.

.

.

WOODWARD.Ct.YDE.SHERARD AND ASSOCIATES
