Permanent Transfers of C-BT Water

.

Holders of C-BT water allotments from the NCWCD may, if

.

approved by the NCWCD board, make permanent transfers ,of their

'- ~

allotments, in whole or in part, to other water users in the

District. This is accomplished by means of a petition to the

NCWCD board to allow the transfer, followed by an order of the
board approving the transfer. Many of the original al10ttees

have "sold" their allotments in this fashion for very large SUmS.
For example, the Bijou Irrigation Company sold 1,000. units each to
the cities of Longmont and Boulder, for a price of $100 per unit,
or $200,000. Such transfers are fairly common and the prices

per unit are rising quite rapidly.

LOWER SOUTH PLATTE WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT

The Lower South Platte Water Conservancy District was 1'0-

cent1y organized for the sole purpose of contracting for the con-

struction and repayment of the proposed Narrows Project, a main-

.

stem storage reservoir to be located near Weldona, a few miles

upstream from Fort Morgan.
