Table 2 provides a summary of costs, benefits and physical effects,
while Table 3 is a summary of composite environmental ratings for alter-
native resource uses. Environmental evaluation inventory worksheets are
in Appendix A. The environmental evaluation (results in Table 3) shows
that no adverse composite effects to pertinent resource uses result from
the proposed salinity program. Overall improvement in some resource
conditions will occur with implementation of the recommended plan. Better
quality water will enter Lake Mead.

Physical land treatment of rangeland in Virgin Valley cannot be
justified for salinity control and is not included in this plan. There
is no forest land in this study area. Unique cultural, historical,
archeological, or natural resources will not be adversely disturbed by
the installation of proposed measures. About ten acres of palustrine
wetland habitat adjacent to the unlined field ditches and delivery canals
will be converted to upland wildlife habitat. This represents about 0.1
percent of the total wetland area in the Sub evaluation Unit.

Monitoring and evaluation of irrigation water management and re-
lated resources affected by the planned improvements will be initiated
or expanded. Assessment of impacts of proposed salinity control measures
upon salt contribution to the Virgin River will be continued.

t

-,'

o '0' (t) ~ '\
~ I.. u ,)

v
