Figure No.4

Bruce Barrett, Bureau of Reclamation engineer for the project, teils iocal officials about the Fifth Water Dam
and Powerplant Complex on a recently conducted tour of the Diamond Fork Power System.

DIAMOND FORK TOURS

Local, State, and Federal officials were recently taken on
a tour of the Diamond Fork Power System as one way the
Bureau of Reclamation is involving the interested public in
planning the proJect. Additional tours will be conducted for
representatives of other organizations next spring after the
weather clears. Interested parties should contact Dr.
Richard Partch, Utah Projects Office, Bureau of Reclama-
tion, 374-8610.

Two major goals in conducting tours of the project area
are to inform participants about the structure, function and
interrelationships among the power system features and to
receive comments back from participants responding to

what they have seen on the tour. Analysis of this information
has been completed for the first tour and indicates strong
support for the project overall. However, two major con-
cerns were raised. One is that recreational facilities be
maximized to the extent pOSSible along the system, while the
other IS that the amount of public information on the
Diamond Fork Power System be significantly increased.
Reclamation is responsing to both of these concerns. Re-
creation potential is currently being reviewed and a plan-
ning meeting open to the pubHc will be held in January 1982.
The three main project alternatives will be reviewed and
comments will be solicited at that meeting.
