The Colorado River Salinity Control Program (CRSC) is authorized by Section 202( c) of
Title II of the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Act of 1974, as amended
(43 U.S,C. 1592),

The CRSC provides financial and technical assistance to identify salt source areas in the
Colorado River Basin; to install conservation practices to reduce salinity levels in the
Colorado River; to carry out research, education, and demonstration activities and
monitoring and evaluation activities,

The CRSC is authorized in the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada,
New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, However, Salinity Reduction Practices (SRP's) have
only been installed in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.
The program applies to lands that are in an identified salt source area, privately owned or
controlled land, Indian tribal land, irrigation district or company land, and State and local
government land,

As a result of the October 1994 reorganization of the United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA), numerous programs have been reassigned to newly restructured
agencies, The Consolidated Farm Service Agency (CFSA) (formerly Agricultural
Stabilization and Conservation Service) no longer administers the CRSC. This program is
now assigned to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) (formerly Soil
Conservation Service),
