<br />PREFACE <br /> <br />o <br />I',j <br />CJ\ <br />N <br /> <br />The Colorado River Salinity Control Program (CRSC) is authorized by Section 202( c) of <br />Title II of the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Act of 1974, as amended <br />(43 U.S,C. 1592), <br /> <br />The CRSC provides financial and technical assistance to identify salt source areas in the <br />Colorado River Basin; to install conservation practices to reduce salinity levels in the <br />Colorado River; to carry out research, education, and demonstration activities and <br />monitoring and evaluation activities, <br /> <br />The CRSC is authorized in the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, <br />New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, However, Salinity Reduction Practices (SRP's) have <br />only been installed in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. <br />The program applies to lands that are in an identified salt source area, privately owned or <br />controlled land, Indian tribal land, irrigation district or company land, and State and local <br />government land, <br /> <br />As a result of the October 1994 reorganization of the United States Department of <br />Agriculture (USDA), numerous programs have been reassigned to newly restructured <br />agencies, The Consolidated Farm Service Agency (CFSA) (formerly Agricultural <br />Stabilization and Conservation Service) no longer administers the CRSC. This program is <br />now assigned to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) (formerly Soil <br />Conservation Service), <br /> <br />, This summary contains the National and State data for all practice payments made during <br />the 1994 fiscal year and cumulative data from 1987 through 1994. <br /> <br />USDA prohibits discrimination in its programs on the basis of race, color, national origin, <br />sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs and marital or familial status, (Not all <br />prohibited bases apply to all programs.)
