Chief Engineer Weymouth submitt~d.' a. <br />final report to Board of Directors on preliminary surveys, <br />designs, and estimates and recommended the Parker route <br />for the Colorado River aqueduct. <br />December 19. Engineering board of review consisting of <br />A. J. Wiley, R. R. Lyman, and Thaddeus Merriman reported <br />to Board of Directors approving the Parker route. <br /> <br />1931 Februar.v. The cities of Long Beach, Torrance, and Fuller- <br />ton annexed to the District. <br />March. Contract for construction of a dam and power <br />house in Black Canyon awarded by Secretary of Interior to <br />Six Companies, Inc. <br />May. Supreme Court dismissed bill of complaint in suit <br />brought by Arizona against Secretary of Interior and signa- <br />tories to the Six-State Compact. <br />June. The City of Compton annexed to the District. <br />August. The cities of Colton and San Bernardino with- <br />drew from the District. <br />September 29. A construction bond issue of $220,000,000 <br />was approved by Distriet electors by a 4.85 to 1 vote. <br /> <br />1!l32 February. The Board of Directors appointed F. E. First block of bonds sold to RFC. <br /> <br />1933 January. First excavation on aqueduct construction at <br />Fargo adit and on Thousand Palms section of the Coachella <br />tunnels by District forccs. <br />February. Contract executed between the District and <br />United States for construction and operation of Parker dam. <br /> <br />1D34 August. Contract for construction of Parker dam awarded <br />to Six Companies, Inc. by Secretary of Interior. <br />October. Contract awarded b~' District for first open work <br />along the main aqueduct. <br />November. Governor of Arizona declared Parker dam con- <br />stmction area in Arizona to be under martialla\\'. Construc- <br />tion work ordered suspended by Secretary of Interior. <br />
