The rapid growth <br />of industry' has continued unabated throughout the year. In the <br />Los Angeles area there were 90 new industries established with <br />a capital investment of $52,415,000 and 360 existing industrial <br />plants expended $157,871,000 on expansion during the year for a <br />total of $210,281,000 invested in industrial plants during year. <br />Factory employment in the Los Angeles area has risen to 2,123,900 <br />during the last half of the fiscal year 1953-1954.
