State Parks is slill intcre;ted in a manaaement pllrtnership with the Bureau of Reclamation
for the Animas-La Plaia project, similar to that at Ridgway SIale Park. Our concern is that
the high stnndard or quality in facility development be the same type as that recently
COIIStrw:led at Ridgway State Purk.

2. Slate Park~ abo has a concern with the relocation or CR 111, The dr"ft supplrmcnt state;
that the relocation of C.R.l11 would be done to "maintain controlled access to the recreation
area". From a recreatiun mllllllllClneut standpoint, it is critical to mllintain these controlled
accesses such that primarily only ~ of the recreatiun area 11~ theoe accessES.

3. State Park.~ feels the recreatiun facililics IL~led in the dr"ft supplemcntal are primarily
conceptlllll and thc rmal numbers and types uf facilities should more closely match existing
visitlltiun trcnd~ and 11'ie1' demands lIS the projlXt move; forward, i.e. the number of boat
slips, etc.

4. State Parks WllS plca~d to !lee that the Bocla pruperty WlIS to he totally replaced thrOOCh
mitillRtion, keeping thi$ area at the site avaiIable for habitat and for limited passive
recreation s\K:h a.s walchillll wildlife, etc.

This concludcs Slate Parks' comments on the propMed project and we thllnk you for the opportunity to have
thi~ chance for input.

KM:nnb

CC: Laurie Mathews, Director
Tom kenyon, As.~i~tant Director

....,-
