The instantaneous discharge is
reported for manual samples, and the weighted mean
discharge (for the sampled time interval) is reported
for composite samples.
Analytical results for plutonium-238, pluto-
nium-239/240, and americium-24I are listed without
rounding because Site regulatory standards for these
constituents are lower than the normal USGS mini-
mum reporting limits. All other radionuclide results
are listed with standard USGS rounding and minimum
reporting limits. The error associated with each
radionuclide result is quantified in tables 25-31 by a
value (2 SIGMA) that is defined as plus or minus the
total propagated analytical uncertainty at the 95-per-
cent confidence level (A.H. Mullin, U.S. Geological
Survey, National Water Quality Laboratory, oral
commun., 1996).

collection and analysis of aquatic biological and
microbiological samples: U.S. Geological Survey
Techniques of Water-Resources Investigations, book 5,
chap.
