<br />to set long-range network program gOalS. 'Oorre11iltion studies for lUl
<br />active gaging stations have been completed and a reclassification based
<br />thereon as to primary, eeoondaryandwater-management stations is
<br />sCheduled for completion by January 1951.

<br />BadgerloTaeh area,Colorado.-_Cooperative studies with the Fbrest Service,
<br />the Bureau of Land 1\Ilanagement, and the Bureau of Reclamation to determine
<br />differences in runoff and sediment yield on small drainage basins due to
<br />grs_zing exolusion ;,'ere oontinued. vTater..stage recorders were maintained on
<br />4 reservoirs: and ;]eeldy readings ofs'tage were obtained on 16 additional re";
<br />servoirs during the season. Record:i,ng precipi tation gages Wlilre operated at
<br />9 locations in the area. The gages will be operated as storage gages during
<br />the winter period. Because of droughtoondidons, no significant runoff
<br />was obtained during the season; but all reservoirs have been resurveyed for
<br />sediment oon;t.ribution during the year. Observational ranges onthe'Cl!annels
<br />and elsewhere were remeasured.

<br />A progrese report on the results Of thEl Geological Survey $tudies for
<br />the 1956 seallon is under preparation and upon oompletion Will be distributed
<br />to the cooperating participants. '

<br />, ": San Simon area, Arizona.--Reco:rdswere obtained of runoff and pre-
<br />cipitation-to determine theeffect of Bureau of Land Management structures
<br />on contributions of tPe ,San Simon to Gila River. 1'1fater-stage recorders were
<br />installed on '3 resel:'voirs and on one overflow "rier. 1,!;l.th these, runoff
<br />from about 75' peroent of the basin is being measured. Tllree adclitional
<br />recording, rain gages were installed and operated to determine origin of
<br />flo.r on ungaged oar,ts of the drainage area. Runoff' during the season' was
<br />very low.

<br />and operated on a .large reservoir recently completed by the 'Bureau of Land
<br />Management. Measurements Will be obtained of total :in.f'low entering a large
<br />area oovered by conse.vation treatment ini;lluding detention reservoirs,
