<br />. <br /> <br />The annual values of these statistical parameters are summarized in <br />the bottom line of Table 2. <br /> <br />The next question that has to be answered relates to the probabilities <br /> <br /> <br />with which certain annual evaporation events may be expected. The annual <br /> <br /> <br />mean evaporation shown above has a probability of 0.5 indicating that half <br /> <br /> <br />of the time the annual evaporation will be below that figure and the other <br /> <br /> <br />half of the time it will be above. This may prove to be insufficient for <br /> <br /> <br />assuring that the available pool will not be emptied below the absolute <br /> <br /> <br />minimum of 18,000 acre-feet content. For this study the monthly evaporation <br /> <br /> <br />data were summarized by calendar years, and the annual evaporation values <br /> <br /> <br />thus obtained were used as the basis of the analysis. <br /> <br />In this frequency study the empirical distribution functions were <br /> <br /> <br />established for three events: (a) for annual evaporation data, (b) for the <br /> <br /> <br />average evaporation of three consecutive years, and (c) for the average annual <br /> <br /> <br />evaporation of five consecutive years.
