acre-feet annually it may require an additional input of 470 acre-feet once in

every 100 years and then only if there is absolutely no carry-over storage

available. Additional refinement of these figures will be completed at a

iater time; however, fuose figures will not have an effect on the proposed

contract.

Drought Period
Replacement Requirement

In this section different potential sources will be investigated as to

their availability for acquisition and water-yield probabilities. Some of

the sources that require acquisition of existing water rights either in part

or in full are hypothetical at this point. Negotiations with most of the

companies mentioned and with others are presently in progress at different

activity levels; and therefore a strict confidential treatment of this report,

and particularly the following sections is mandatory and requested.

Potential yield of the 1975 storage right

In W-7997(75) the Colorado State Department of Natural Resources,

Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, has filed for a storage right of

24,000 acre-feet in Chatfield Reservoir with the appropriation date of 6-9-75.

The investigation must extend to water demands by existing watec rights and

physical water availability at the reservoir site, and at the same time assess

the effect of conditional senior storage rights that may become active at a

later date.

For the analysis the following basic data were used:

(1) Daily flow records of stations on the South Platte River and on

various tributaries from Plum Creek down to the Cache la Poudre River.

(2) Historic calls by various priorities obtained from the Division
Engineer's office.

(3) First-of-month reservoir contents obtained from the same office
for all major reservoirs in the South Platte basin diverting water below the
Chatfield site from the South Platte River itself.

10 -

M.
