A Contract between the Conservancy District <br />and the United States was executed July 14, 1958. Contracts between the <br />Uintah Water Conservancy District and the various major canal companies <br />for the sale and use of irrigation water were executed in November and <br />December, 1958. Contracts between the Conservancy District and the various <br />towns and water companies for the sale and use of municipal water were <br />executed in October and December, 1958. The prime contract for the <br />construction of Stanaker Dam was awarded May 4, 1959, and the schedUled <br />completion date is January 1961. In addition, there are other features <br />of the project under preconstruction. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The shortage of irrigation water during the summer months has <br />plagued this area since it was settled. Consequently, there has been <br />considerable interest and activity on the part of the farmers and civic <br />leaders for the Gonstl1.lction of this unit as well 9S for the entire <br />Upper Colorado River project. . <br /> <br />-26- <br />
