<br />COLORADO RIVER STORAGE PROJECT <br />FLAMING GORGE UNIT <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />LOCATION: <br /> <br />Upper Colorado River Basin. Storage dam and powerplant <br />on Green River in northern Utah about 6 miles south of <br />Utah-Wyoming border. <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION: <br />Public Law 485, 84th Congress, 2nd Session (70 Stat. 109), <br />approved April 11 , 1956, and Public Law 85-529 (74 Stat. <br />225), approved June 27, 1960. <br /> <br />PLAN <br /> <br />Flaming Gorge unit will regulate the flow of Green River for power <br />generation and, by exchange, for consumptive use of water. Other <br />purposes include recreation, fish and wildlife propagation, and flood <br />control to a minor extent. Unit features include a dam and reservoir, <br />powerplant, switchyard, and general property which primarily involves <br />structures and improvements at the new town of Dutch John, Utah, <br />established as a residence for personnel connected with construction <br />and operation of the unit. A transmissiop. sy~tem will be provided <br />as part of the Transmission division of the.COlQrado River Storage <br />project.
