(County Commissioner statements are included in Appendix H.)

The Denver Board of Water Commissioners did not support anyone proposal. In-
stp.arl thp.y put forth the view that their ahility to meet the future water development
needs for the greater Denver area should not be foreclosed. Some of their future devel-
opment sites are in areas outside of the Hearing Proposal, but are within Proposals /12
and #4.

Since the available water in the Platte River is fully adjudicated, the Denver Board
of Water Commissioners is meeting water needs by tapping tributaries of the Colorado
River. The Board is convinced of the necessity of developing this water potential to
meet the increasing needs of Denver and surrounding suburban areas. These water
needs are estimated to increase nearly three fold in the next 40 years.

1/ Position stawments of these individuals were presented at the Oral Hearing by Merrill Hastings of Colorado
Magazine. .'

28
'\~"''': .-.
