About 2,170 acres of operable mature timber within the Gore Range-Eagles Nest
Primitive Area has never been included in the inventory upon which the allowable cut
for the Arapaho and Holy Cross Working Circles is based. The net result of the proposed
additions and exclusions in this proposal will remove 835 acres of mature operable lodge-
pole pine and 1,630 acres of mature operable Engelmann spruce-subalpine fIT from the
Arapaho Working Circle. and 265 acres of mature, operable Engelmann spruce-subalpine
timber from the Holy Cross Working Circle.

The proposed Eagles Nest Wilderness will then contain an estimated 4,625 acres of
mature operable timber type on the Arapaho National Forest and 265 acres of mature
operable timber type on the White River National Forest which will be eliminated from
consideration for the allowable annual cut.

Minerals

There are patented mmmg claims inside the proposed Wilderness boundary in the
Boulder, North Rock. Booth. Bighorn. and Deluge Creek drainages and on Red Peak.
The table below lists these claims.
