<br />Fiscal Year 1980 Highlights <br /> <br /> <br />looking south down Easlside Clccess road <br /> <br />Central Utah Project: Bonneville Unit- <br />Awards were made on December 6,1979, <br />for Strawberry Bay, Roads and Recre- <br />ation; ApriI1?, 1980 for Jordan Aqueduct <br />Reach 3; and on June 24, 1980, for Hades <br />and Rhodes Tunnels and Access Roads. <br />An agreement to make available up to <br />44,000 acre-feet of water annually for <br />instream flow use to protect the stream <br />fisheries downstream of the Strawberry <br />Collection System was made on Feb- <br />ruary 7,1980, between the Service and <br />the State of Utah, <br /> <br />Jensen Unit - Block NO.1 Drains were <br />awarded on March 26, 1980, Red Fleet <br />Dam was completed and initial filling of <br />the reservoir began in May 1980:The <br />filling was carefully monitored, The reser- <br />voir was filled to 15,000 acre-feet of its <br />22,600 acre-foot capacity. Dedication <br />ceremonies for red Fleet Dam were held <br />on July 19, 1980, <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />Eighty-ton "mole" breaks through Rhodes Tunnel <br /> <br />Upalco Unit - On March 12, 1980, the final <br />Environmental Statement was filed with <br />the Environmental Protection Agency, <br />The Revised Definite Plan Report was <br />approved May 15, 1980, <br /> <br />Dallas Creek - The contract for Stage I <br />Ridgway Dam was awarded on December <br />6,1979, <br /> <br />Dolores - The District Headquarters <br />building in Cortez was completed in <br />March 1980, On June 19, 1980, the con. <br />tract for McPhe'e Dam was awarded, and <br />on August 15, 1980 the Bradfield Bridge <br />replacement was awarded, <br /> <br /> <br />Jensen Drains-gravel is dumped into trench <br /> <br />Emery County - The Block 4 Drains were <br />completed in January 1980, <br /> <br />Glen Canyon Unit- Lake Powell filled to <br />its peak elevation of 3,700 teet (27,000,000 <br />acre-feet) for the first time in its 17 year <br />history on June 23, 1980, The powerplant <br />began operating at full capacity. <br /> <br />Lyman - The reservoir behind Stateline <br />Dam continued to fill. Insufficient runoff <br />prevents the reservoir from filling <br />completely, <br /> <br />Navajo Indian Irrigation - Block 4 Laterals <br />were completed in July 1980 with irriga- <br />tion water ,delivered to Block 4 lands. <br /> <br />Sublette-Investigations have been <br />concluded as the results indicated that <br />there is no need for additional water in the <br />area under present or projected water <br />needs. <br />
