Insolation and Temperature Data;

Knapp, et aI, (1980) ~eport monthly and annual temperature and
solar flux data for Grand Junction and Eagle, Colorado. The
ave~age annual global radiation received at Eagle and Grand
Junction respectively are 432.5 and 449.9 Langleys. 74% of the
total annual solar flux occurs during the April to October
period, according to the data of Knapp, et al. 1980. Annual
variations are detailed in Figure 2.

The agricultural growing season averages between six and seven
months (191 days) in G~and Junction (Ruffne~ and Bair, 1977),
and is about the same in the upper valley around Palisade.
Minimum daily temperatures are not expected to drop below
freezing from April through October over the region extending
from G~and Junction to Eagle (National Weather Se~vice
Insolation Data Manual. 1980). Figure 3 provides annual
tempe~ature detail.

c. Precipitation and Evaporation Data:

Table II summarizes the precipitation data for Grand Junction,
the nearest NOAA station to Glenwood Springs. Maximum monthly
precipitation recorded (NOAA, 1982) is 3.48 inches of water;
maximum monthly snowfall is 33.7 inches.

5.
