<br />COLORADO RIVER RECOVERY PROGRAM <br />FY 97 ANNUAL PROJECT REPORT <br /> <br />RECOVERY PROGRAM <br />PROJECT NUMBER: 16 <br /> <br />I. Project Summary: <br /> <br />Development of a centralized database was an initial requirement of <br />the Recovery Program. The Service's Grand Junction Office was <br />instrumental in developing the database and has managed it since <br />1986. Participants are required to submit their data in Dbase files. <br />File structure is flexible, but participants are requested to use <br />established field names when appropriate. The Database Manager <br />catalogs the files as they are submitted and prepares basic <br />documentation. Lists of endangered fishes tagged with PIT tags are <br />submitted and consolidated annually. All remaining data collected as <br />part of studies funded by the Recovery Program are required to be <br />submitted to the Database when the final report is submitted. <br /> <br />IV. Study Schedule: Scheduled to continue for the length of the Recovery <br />Program. <br /> <br />V. Relationship to RIPRAP: <br /> <br />General Recovery Program Support Action Plan. V.A.2. Conduct <br />interagency data management program to compile, manage, and maintain, <br />all research and monitoring data collected by the Recovery Program. <br /> <br />VI. Accomplishment of FY 97 Tasks and Deliverables, Discussion of Initial <br />Findings and Shortcomings: <br /> <br />Data have been catagloged as received. <br /> <br />All PIT tag data received were checked for errors. Several minor <br />errors were found and clarified with the original investigators.. <br /> <br />Work on the 1997 combined tagging list is ongoing. <br /> <br />Large amounts of data are expected in 1998 as the large number of <br />studies funded under the Aspinall and Flaming Gorge Umbrellas are <br />completed. <br /> <br />VII. Recommendations: Continue the database program. <br /> <br />VIII. <br /> <br />Project Status: Project is on track.
