1282

.

D. Turqooise Lake

1. Inflow

Inflow to Turqooise Lake for water year 1980 will be from four sources:
Busk-Ivanhoe inlJorts, Fryingpan-Arkansas Project inlJorts, Hanestake
Tunnel inlJorts, and native flow of Lake Fbrk Creek. Estimates of inflow
fran Busk~Ivanhoe and native Lake Fbrk Creek were made using historical
reaords and probability analysis. Hanestake Project plans to inport
only 30,000 acre-feet of water row stored in Hanestake Reservoir during
the winter of 1979-80 as the Hanestake Tunnel is undergoing repairs.

2. Minimum Release

The min:lmIJn release will be maintained at 15 ft3/s, or natural inflow,
whichever is less..

3. Reservoir Operation

.

Planned operation of Turqooise Lake for water year 1980 was made assum-
ing idea1p::>nditions and oonplying with as many requests by involved
entities as possible. It is reoogni:<:ed,that in actual operation, circum-
stances may ~re SOlIe variation fran the plan.

Native inflow to Lake Fbrk Creek and Busk-IVarux,e inports were estimated
fran historic records.

The Ii:>m:lstake Project plans to inlJort only the 30,000 acre-feet now
stored in Hanestake Reservoir. The 9,960 acre-feet of Hanestake water
stored in Turqooise Reservoir (September 30, 1979) plus W.Y. 1980 inp:>rts
will be released at the request of the Hanestake Project.

Under a teirp:>rary contract, the Catlin Canal Caipany may store their
Larkspur Ditcl:J. tranSllOuntain diversions..up to 3,000 acre-feet in Fryingpan-.
Arkansas Project facilities.

Pueblo Water Board ownsone:.half of the Busk-Ivanhoe inports. As in
recent years, their half will be bypassed. The other. half of the Busk-
Ivanhoe imports, belonging to the High Line Canal Caipany, will be
stored in Turqooise Lake under contract. Releases to the High Line
Canal Cc:lnpany are patt:erned after previous years. There. are tentative
plans for High Line to aa;IUire Pueblo I s half of Busk-Ivanhoe inports for
water year,1980.

.

. .
When their wa~ rights are in priority, CF&I St:eel Co:q:>oration stores a '
portion of the native flow in Turqu:>ise Lake up to 1'7,4g0 acre-feet .'
under its 1902 storage right. CF&I may also store 3 ft /s fran May 15
through September 15, not to exceed 738 acre-feet; this water must be
released fran Turqooise Lake by November 1. . CF&I has purchased an
additional 10,000 acre-feet of finn storage fran the project, effective
in 1979.

11

i

'.31", ~.
