The Council recommends <br />~ <br />Reclamation continue their planning activities in <br /> <br />cooperation with USDA to further define the salt load <br /> <br />source and salt load reduction potential in the San Juan <br /> <br />River Unit and prepare a planning report and environmental <br /> <br />impact statement. <br /> <br />Glenwood-Dotsero Springs Unit The Council has been <br /> <br />advised that Reclamation has been ~pproached by private <br /> <br />entities for joint, cost-shared studies of the feasibility <br /> <br />of power plant/desalinization type projects for Glenwood <br /> <br />Springs. The Council urges that Reclamation pursue the <br /> <br />opportunity for evaluation of.any proposed salinity control <br /> <br />projects. <br /> <br />Economic Update Study. The Council is pleased with <br /> <br />the results of the economic update study carried out under <br /> <br />contract. The computer model will be useful in further <br /> <br />evaluation of salinity induced economic detriments. <br /> <br />Reclamation should work closely with the Forum and the <br /> <br />Basin states in making projections of future damages so <br /> <br />that the projections are realistic and are consistent when <br /> <br />applied by States and federal agencies. <br /> <br />-8- <br />
