Project. <br /> <br />~ The recommended fundinq amounts are for salinity control efforts <br />that are over and above funds normally appropriated 1:Iy the Congress <br />for _nag_ent of the public lands. <br /> <br />~ Federal salinity cost share funds to be adainistered 1:Iy ASCS <br />(with 30 percent reimbursement from the Basin Funds subject to P.L. <br />98-569). <br /> <br />~ Funds utilized 1:Iy scs and Extension Service to provide technical <br />assistance to CRSC participants and for monitoring and education <br />activities. <br /> <br />~ The Council supports this federal/state/private <br />cogeneration/salinity control project. As payment for salt <br />reduction is required, it is contemplated to be made from <br />Reclamation's operation and maintenance 1:Iudqet. Additional <br />operation and maintenance line it.. funding will be required in the <br />future. <br /> <br />11 The council recognizes that the Uinta Unit is not yet <br />authorized, but understands that the Reclamation will be seeking <br />authorization in the near future. Hence, additional funding will <br />be needed to construct this unit in future years. <br /> <br />Conclusion <br /> <br />The Council wishes to express its appreciation for the <br />opportunity to submit its comments and suggestions to the federal <br />agencies. The Council is qenerally pleased with ~e interagency <br />efforts put forth in FY 1989, and looks forward to further success <br />in the coming year. <br /> <br />10 <br />
