1. Scope of proposed investigatiop:

Feasibility investigation to formulate plans for the Qrdlfrly development
of water resources in the Cache Creek Basin to meet the anticipated
future water requirements of the area, especially mUnicipal and indus-
trial requirements. Water surplus to M&:I; nee<;li;; du;ring the initial ~ars
could be used for irrigation and reduce the amount of water requited for
import when the Oklahoma State Water Plan is implE;!mented.

2. Nature of problems involved:

Southwestern Ok~ahoraa is the most critical area in the State from the
standpoint of the development of adequate quantities of suitable quality
water to meet present and future requirements. Ground water aquifers
are being depleted and most available surface supplies are of poor
quality. Development of surface water in the Cache Creek Basin 'TOuld
aid in the future growth of the communities of a large section of South-
west Oklahoma.

A dam and reservoir on Cache Creek near Cookietown, with a possible
diversion from Faxon Creek, will be evaluated. Alternative sites will
be reexamined as will nonconstruction alternatives to the maximUlJ1
practicable extent. Tne Cookietown site will require a complete reeval-
uation because of upstream developments and it is possib~e that another
- site within the basin would be considered for a feasibility design.
