Decorate cake to
resemble a girl with a full skirt. Use

WAilS WITH DOT
Hi the<<!f Just thought I'd drop by
for a minute to say "Good morning" and
to remind you that if you haven't al-
ready done it then you'd better get
those 'geraniums slipped, Remember
what a time we had last year, its not
easy to hold a flashlight with you~
knees, especially if they happen to be
shaking with cold. Believe it or not my
Mom and I did that lIttle chore orle
warm afternoon a week or 'so ago, It
was one of those wondeduf fall days
with the leaves just beginning to lose
their hold on summer, A Uny, gray kit-
ten just old enough to be inquisitiw,
and young enough to want company
was our constant companion. He was
between our feet at every step and at-
my fingertips each time I selected a
geranium to be cut. I felt sure we were
doing the job in a manner tbat met, with
his approval as he was most generOtlS
with his p)lrraise every time I picked
him for a consultation.
1 am stuting-all my slips in a larJ:e,
shallow pan filled with fine sand, as
soon as a root system begins to develop
then I'll transplant them to pots and
good garden soil. This method worked
exceptionally well last year, 1 think I
only lost four or five slips out of the
fifty or so that I planted. Wish there
WIS some way I could share th,ese ger-
aniums with you gals who would like
to have them. Jack Frost is centainly
going to get a lot of them this year. .
The coming of my birthday- a few
weeks ago brought about the end of a
rather unusual era at our house and"
, 'frankly, ,I wasn't the least bit sorry to
~ see it go. It's like this--I have never
. fomid it possible to sleep on brush rol-
: lers so I shampoo my hair in the mOr!}.
Ings which In turn necessitates a quick
dry job If I am to be at work at a
reasonably prompt time. It has, becn
my custom to sit Yogi-fashion in front
of the forced air furnace Ind I could
usually be assured that when the rest
of me was broiled to a, turn. my hair
would be nearly dry. Coming unexpect-
edly upon this scene of rare discomfort
must have been an inspiration to my
family for they put an end to it and in
the very nicest way too. My birthday
present from them was the prettie~t
hair dryer you've ever seen. Just slip
on the cap, flip the switch and in a
matter of 20 minutes or so my 'hair is
dry. It has a dial for heat control and
bless me, even a warm air outlet for
drying your nail polish. Or if your
mornings are as hectic as mine usually
are, then its a wonderful time to just
sit back, relax and daydream for a few
minutes.
If you don't already have one then
maybe a hint (nothing as drastic as the
Yogi bit, please) to your family will do
the trick fOr you too.
The unpredictable and destructive
Hurricane Carla, added lreveral gray
hall'S to my head a few weeks ago. My
Texas Gal and her family live at Angle.
ton which was squarely in the path of
the ":'Impaging Carla. Hoping to eseape

the worst of the storm tiley packed
the youngsters, Sheri, Jamie and tiny
2-week-old Mike, into the car and drove
far inland. But Carla followed llke a
bad reputation and the small town
where they took refuge bore the full
brunt .of the storm. They spent one
night in the basement of a church ami
in commenting on the number of
youngsters-present our Gal said it was
the only room in the building with
"wall, to wall babies". They returned
home several days later and 'were mcs'
fortunate to find their"owrr home omy
very slightly damaged.' Even' Mama
kitty and three small kittens, who had
been provisioned and left in the bath-
room, were fine. A great many pets
'didn't fare so well.
The phone call that brought us news
of their safety was the most welco!r.e
one 'l'.ve had in II long time.
The sight of those bright yellow
pumkins in the field reminds me that
Jack-a-lantern time is almost here. The
thought of those warm, s,ugary dough.
nuts is enough to make me jerk my
calorie chart right 'off the cupboard
door.
Say, Mom, if those little tykes of
yours plan to go out for "tricks or
treat" be sure they carry a flashlight
or are dressed in something white. A
youngster with a mask-and dark cloth-
ing on is mighty hard to see after dark.
And you and I both know they somc-
times forget to cross at the corners.
Have fun and Happy Hallowe'en!
Yours for better Hving electrically,
, Dot Dill

a cake decorator tube to form flowers
and ruffles on the cake to resemble
a skirt. A Delieate Fabric or Modern
Fabric cycle should be used if the
hangtags indicate that the garments can
be washed automatically.
In the case of stretch terry items,
when the fabric contains a cotton_
nylon blend, they should be washed
automatically_ in gentle cycles and con-
ditions, not just tossed in with a turkish
towel load or in a load to be run
through a regular or soiled cycle.
When stretch garments hanglags
indicate automatic drying is permissi_
ble, dryer settings !or man-made fibers
should pe used. Some men's' slacks of
waver! stretch fabrics with fiber blends
are marketed today that are washable,
but not classified "automatic wash and
wear." Drip-drying is recommended for
these.

,

Farms; WMalland; Resort; Income
Va'tu1i,~~~ EJ;X~~~ ~"~~bb\~fa~~m~~:i
PICkup atta",llmenlo: <lomblnes; <lhlsels:
onewoys; Trucks; Roman WenInger, Ak_
ron.
