<:::>
c;
~
(\1
C:')
iol-'"

Plant "on the line" within the next 60 days. In order to do this we must

erect a section of transmission line to connect the power plant to the

existing l15,000-volt Estes to Loveland transmission line which.now ter-

minates just east of Lake Estes. To connect the Marys Lake Power Plant

to the transmission system, we must build a transmission line from it to

Estes Power Plant, and to integrate the operation of both these plants

with western slope power features, we must interconnect them by erecting

a high-voltage transmission line from Estes Power Plant to connect with

a high-voltage cable now being installed in the Adams Tunnel. It is in

relation to our plan for construction of these 3 sections of transmission

'~~

line that we are meeting here tOday, and thus, I believe, we have arrived

at the localized problem which we will want to develop in considerable

detail.

First; in order to clearly establish in the minds of the audience

the area we will be talking about, I wish to refer to Exhibit "A", "Gen-

eral Recreation Development Plan for Estes Park Lake". This is one of a

series of pl<ms comprising a "master plan" for recreational development

on reservoirs of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project worked out jointly be-

tween the National Park Service and the Bureau of Reclamation. Noting

the picnic areas, bathing and boating concessions, beaches, boardwalk,

parking facilities,and over-all landscaping plans, it will be seen that

considerable thought has been given to a fully integrated recreational

and scenic development for this area. I wish to emphasize that while

Exhibit "AU represents an agreed upon plan for development, only very

limited recreational features have been undertaken to date for the reason

that over-all plans are awaiting formal approval and appropriation of

3

.",
