I

I

irrigation:season operations. Mr. Broyles indicated that the Keesee Ditch was
frequently'used for irrigation of alfalfa and winter grains during the winter
months.

I

After completion of the irrigation wells in the 1950's and 1960's, well
water was 'used for winter irrigation, primarily as a source of warm water to
aid in the delivery of surface diversions, and as a supplemental water source
during the irrigation season. This supplemental source allowed for the
expansion in acreage reflected in the aerial photographs. In the most recent
years, Mr, Broyles indicates that the tenants have relied much less on well
water and)more on surface diversions due primarily to high pumping .costs and
the availability of account water in John Martin Reservoir under the current
operating plan and wet climatic cycle.

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

3

I
