Impacts of Project Operation. <br /> <br />A. Effects on Normal Project Releases. <br /> <br />/ <br /> <br />1. A basic premise of this study is that the development of a small <br /> <br /> <br />hydropower addition at John Martin Dam would have no effect on the existing <br /> <br /> <br />reservoir regulation procedures. This constraint also does not limit the <br /> <br /> <br />hydroelectric generation potential because the existing outlet works have <br /> <br /> <br />excess capacity to meet downstream release requirements. The outlet works <br /> <br /> <br />consist of four six-feet by seven-and-a-half-feet rectangular sluicing <br /> <br /> <br />conduits and two iour-feet by four-fe~t regulatini conduits. The discharge <br /> <br /> <br />rating curves for these conduits are shown on Plate 2. <br /> <br />2. Assuming that the reservoir elevation is at elevation 3790 <br /> <br /> <br />(approximately the median pool elevation), then one sluicing conduit would <br /> <br /> <br />have the capacity to discharge about 1700 cfs with the gate fully open. At <br /> <br /> <br />the same time elevation, one regulating conduit could release at the rate of <br /> <br /> <br />550 cfs. Therefore, assuming both regulating conduits operating and three of <br /> <br /> <br />the four sluicing conduits open, the dam could release about 6200 cfs. At the <br /> <br /> <br />spillway crest elevation of 3840, these five conduits could release about <br /> <br /> <br />10,800 cfs. At the top of conservation pool. elevation 3851. the conduits <br /> <br /> <br />could release about 11.600 c.f.s. <br /> <br />10 <br />
