At the meeting, TWG members reviewed the latest <br />version of the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center's (GCMRC) Strategic Plan, which <br />is used to guide development of the annual work plan and budget. GCMRC staff made presentations <br />on the results of sediment studies associated with low-flow tests performed in 2000, and provide an <br />update on legislative and budget matters. Finally, Bureau of Reclamation staff provided the TWG <br />with an update on basinwide hydrology and water supply conditions. <br /> <br />WATER QUALITY <br /> <br />Atlas Uranium Mill Tailinl!s <br /> <br />On Monday, June 5'", the Bush administration announced it was adding $1.4 million to its <br />current year's budget to continue the necessary studies to cleanup the uranium mill tailings near <br />Moah, Utah. A bipartisan coalition of congressional members in Utah and California, along with <br />the MWD and Utah Governor Michael Leavitt, waged an aggressive lobbying effort to get the new <br />administration to provide funding for the project. <br /> <br />~?~;; ~-~~~ '-~ <br /> <br />~ral .
