A. Virgin River Above La Verkin Springs

This data represents the Virgin River just upstrtam of the
La Verkin Springs. The flow data is from the previous
La Verkin Springs investigation (USBR, February 1979). The
water quality at this point in the river system is assumed
to be the same as at Virgin, Utah. The water quality data
is from a masters thesis (Trudeau, August 1979).

B. La Verkin Springs

This data represents the flow contribution to the Virgin
River from the La Verkin Springs. The data is fro~1 the
previous investigation (USBR, February 1979) and a masters
thesis (Trudeau, August 1979).

C. Intervening Flow Between Above La Verkin Springs and Ne~r
St. George

This data was calculated for the existing river system by
adding the flow at above La Verkin Springs ana La Verkin
Springs, then subtracting this sum from the flow near
St. George. Flow applies both to water and salt in this
discussior,.

D. Virgin River Near St. George

This is the midpoint of the study arta. The data is from
the previous La Verkin Springs investigation (USBR, February
1979) and a masters thesis (Trudeau, August 1979) .

This point represents the river system below La Verkin
Springs and the quality of water that is assumed to
infiltrate 1nto the ground.

For post project conditions, this point is calculated as
the sum of the flow above La Verkin Springs, Quail Creek
Reservoir replacement water for La Verkin Springs, and the
intervtning flov: between above La Verkin Spring~ and near
St. GeorgE.

E. Infiltration Loss

Tnis is an assumed loss to the surface water system that
occurs below St. George near Bloomington, Utah. The
previous investi9ations (USBR, February 1979; Trudeau,
Au~ust 1979) sugge~ted that this loss can range from 20
ft /sec. to 100 ft /sec. The previous investigations (USSR,
February 1979; Truaeau, August 1979) also suggested that
this infiltration loss could be the sourCt of the
Littlefitld Springs, AZ flow.

7

002621
