The dam, expected to cosl <br />between $50 million and $100 million, <br />has achieved worldwide attention <br />since il is to be built by a state-of-the- <br />art process using roller-compacted <br />concrete <br /> <br />Nearly 25,000 acres of federally- <br />owned land was transferred in July <br />1983 to the Stales of Utah and <br />Colorado In one of the largest land <br />transfers of its kind. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />As the inllows rise. so do the releases <br /> <br />Vat Tunnel, the longest ever <br />constructed in Utah, was 99 percent <br />complefe by August 1983, making It <br />the longest tunnel thus far completed <br />on the Strawberry Collection System <br />of the Central Utah Project. <br /> <br /> <br />An agreement was signed between <br />Reclamation and BLM in March 1 983 <br />for BLM to prepare informafion for <br />NEPA compliance on Aquatrain's <br />pipeline corridor. Aquatrain is a $2 <br />billion joint venture between Recla- <br />mation and Aquatrain, Inc., to <br />transport coal and other products <br />from the upper reaches of the <br />Colorado River BaSin 1,200 miles to <br />the California coast. <br />
