BOX 11568 <br />SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH 84147 <br /> <br />IN REPLY <br />REFER TO, uc- 7 30 <br />120.1 <br /> <br />August 6, 1979 <br /> <br />Memorandum <br /> <br />To: See Attached List <br /> <br />Enclosed for your review and comment is a copy of the Draft <br />Environmental Statement for the Animas-La Plata Project, <br />Colorado-New Mexico (INT DES 79-45). The statement was filed <br />with the Environmental Protection Agency on July 25, 1979. We <br />are asking that comments be submitted to this office by <br />September 21. <br /> <br />Public hearings on the draft statement will be held in Farmington, <br />New Mexico, on September 4 and in Durango, Colorado, on September 5. <br />The hearing in Farmington will be held at the City Council Chambers, <br />Municipal Building, 800 Municipal Drive. The hearing in Durango <br />will pe held at the Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, 2500 North Main. In <br />both cases, the proceedings will begin at 2 p.m., continue until <br />all comments have been received or until 5 p.m., resume at 7:30 p.m., <br />and then continue until all comments have been received. Requests <br />for scheduled presentations should be made to one of the Bureau's <br />offices listed below and will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on <br />August 28. Unscheduled presentations will be handled on a first- <br />come-first-served basis after all scheduled speakers have been heard. <br />Oral statements will be limited to a period of 10 minutes each. <br />Speakers who desire to have their comments printed in their entirety <br />in the final environmental statement should submit them in writing <br />to the Bureau's official representative at the hearings or mailed <br />to the offices listed below. <br /> <br />Requests to make presentations may be made to either of the following <br />offices: <br /> <br />Office of the Regional Director <br />Bureau of Reclamation <br />Federal Building <br />125 South State Street <br />P.O.
