BOX 11568 SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH 84147 IN REPLY REFER TO, uc- 7 30 120.1 August 6, 1979 Memorandum To: See Attached List Enclosed for your review and comment is a copy of the Draft Environmental Statement for the Animas-La Plata Project, Colorado-New Mexico (INT DES 79-45). The statement was filed with the Environmental Protection Agency on July 25, 1979. We are asking that comments be submitted to this office by September 21. Public hearings on the draft statement will be held in Farmington, New Mexico, on September 4 and in Durango, Colorado, on September 5. The hearing in Farmington will be held at the City Council Chambers, Municipal Building, 800 Municipal Drive. The hearing in Durango will pe held at the Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, 2500 North Main. In both cases, the proceedings will begin at 2 p.m., continue until all comments have been received or until 5 p.m., resume at 7:30 p.m., and then continue until all comments have been received. Requests for scheduled presentations should be made to one of the Bureau's offices listed below and will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on August 28. Unscheduled presentations will be handled on a first- come-first-served basis after all scheduled speakers have been heard. Oral statements will be limited to a period of 10 minutes each. Speakers who desire to have their comments printed in their entirety in the final environmental statement should submit them in writing to the Bureau's official representative at the hearings or mailed to the offices listed below.
