(1) The ground water visualization too
GMS was selected to assist in data
preparation and viewing after review of
several potential candidates.
o (2) Documentation of the existing San Luis
Valley Ground Water Model was iniliated.
o (5) A draft sensitivity analysis was
-- performed to select model input parameters
and documented.
. (6) A draft data collection program was
developed that recommends 3 new
piezometers and 3 pumping tests be
performed in the confined aquifer under
Phase 1. Specifications have been
developed for well construction and
pumping tests. Competitive bids for the well
construction and pumping tests are expected
to be published by June, 1999 for
completion in calendar year 1999.
(7) The hydrologic data review was initiated.
Numerous contacts were made in the San
Luis Valley, geophysical log data was
obtained from Ihe state, and water level data
was obtained from the Closed Basin Project.
Preliminary results were used to design the
data collection program and evaluate the
model layers to be used in the enhanced
SL V GW model.
(10) Contract documents were prepared for
the bid packages prepared in task 6.

Surface Water Component
Significant Progress under the Surface Water
Component is as follows:

. (2) A study period extending from 1950 to
1997 was selected based primarily on
available digital data.

06/03/99 - I
